“Bordertown” - Borderline Censorship?

You would have thought that a movie starring Antonio Banderas, Jennifer Lopez and Martin Sheen would have made a stir at any Box-Office and would have been a must-see scramble at the local video store on its release.

But how many of you have even heard of “Bordertown” the  film produced by Banderas about the murders of countless women in the factory town in Mexico that produces goods for the American market under the NAFTA agreement.

The films premise is controversial and ultimately points towards a cover-up conspiracy by high level government officials on both sides of the border who do not want to interupt the profits being made for the sake of investigating the murders too deeply.

The fact that you have not heard of or seen this movie is reason enough to question why it has had so little media coverage.

Movies about serial killers with a cast like this normally gets Oscar nominations,(thinking Silence of the Lambs). When the story is true and involves possibly thousands of murders you would expect a mass rush to learn what is going on in Juarez, Mexico.

The film that was originally called City of Silence in its Spanish version seems to be suffering from its own storyline.

I saw the film in Spain, but when I attempted to get a copy a few months later in the States the rental manager had never heard of it…

Its a movie to watch…if you can find a copy…if you can’t…..ask Why?
