When a Senator stands up on Television and says that English is the language of God in the same breath as trying to justify introducing legislation discriminating against minorities its time to stick a pin in yourself and remind yourself your in the 21st Century.

I am talking about Channel 5 News, the Charleston local network where the Senator…I didn’t get his name…and frankly he is not worth the effort to look up…stood in front of the cameras trying to justify legisation proposing all government documentation should only be published in English.

The Senator who probably supported the making of Cock fighting a federal crime in South Carolina before Domestic Abuse against women, finished by stating that English was the language of God and that all immigrants should learn it if they wanted live in SC.

Couple of things Senator….If English is the language of God how come Jesus couldn’t speak a word of it….oh and by the way the first bibles were written in Latin….thats olde Italian Senator!

With minorities becoming a larger proportion of the communities of South Carolina dont you think that educational programs….and the funding thereof would be a better solution. Embrace a problem instead of putting up more barriers. Maybe it would also help with the existing high illiteracy rates for the ‘English Speaking’ members of the State as well as the minorities. I ask you whats next…If you dont speak english you have to sit at the back of the bus!

After pandering to the racist element and those who fear change I am sure the senator went home, put on his DVD of Mississipi Burning and reminisced about the ‘Good ol days’
